Second Generation Grove Streeters?

On Tuesday, Maisey met her future Grove Street Reunion Tailgate pal, Miss Willa Beach. Amazing Linda, armed with Lemon Orange Poppyseed muffins, drove over from Lansing with Willa (after dropping big brother Everett at preschool) to walk downtown for lunch and entertain us Spurgeon gals. It was great!

Willa is about four weeks older than Maisey. What a different those 28 days make! I can't wait to see the difference is Miss Crazy.

Someday they might brave Harper's but for now, they'll stick to what they do best...

They'll sleep.

Foreclosure Fun House

Dad is always prowling real estate sites for good deals on waterfront homes. He stumbled upon this gem and couldn't resist taking a look. The three of us met with agent Mary to take a gander.

First warning that this could be a hot mess of a house? Animal control notice about abandoned pets...
But then there was the entryway - nothing like a tear drop glass chandelier to capture Mom's heart. (Oh - that and the dual staircases.)

Her second favorite part? The built in bed with intercom headboard, on black berber carpet.

My favorite part? The elevator. The mirrored furniture. And the pool.

Really though, the view was pretty nice.

Even if the house belonged in LA, circa 1982...

Mom said, though lovely, we'd all have to start snorting cocaine if we moved in - so Dad made the call to walk away... Better luck next time. (But I'm holding out for an indoor pool.)

Karyn and Kensington

Hurricane Irene didn't stop me from having a wild weekend!

First, I got to meet my Auntie Karyn. She's been mentioned a lot on this blog - most recently for sending us deep dish pizza from her hometown - Chicago. She brought me some rockin' Halloween gear and entertained Mom
for a couple hours. It was awesome. I can't wait to meet this kid of hers - Charlie. He's tall, blonde, eats food and can walk. What a catch! I wanted to impress her so I showcased my second best talent - sleeping. (Eating's number one but Mom wanted to keep her boob in her shirt. Boo.)

Then, on Sunday morning I took my first trip to Kensington Metro Park. Mom and I walked the trail while Dad, my brothers, Grandpa Bill and Gemma ran the loop. We went about 5 miles. They went over 8 - enough to make Dad's nipple bleed. Now he's just like Mom! She's happy to have someone to commiserate with.

Next weekend we're going to Lake City, Bay Harbor and then Escanaba! Whew!

Grandpa Bill's Baby Hold

Last weekend Grandpa Bill stopped by to check me out. He hadn't seen me since the day after I was born. He was impressed by my growth. I promised I'd keep working on it.

He also showcased his baby whispering skills. I admit that I was a tad confused. When in doubt? Suck the neck...

Not quite as good as Mom, but not bad.

Cookie Sheet Calibration

I don't have a doctor's appointment for another 4 weeks but Mom really wanted to know how much I weighed. Her hair-brained solution (planted by Grandma Betty)? A cookie sheet and a kitchen scale. I was none to happy with the situation.

But it worked. I'm enlarging. Just like this chick named Marge. 8 lbs. 8 oz.!
