Melting on Memorial Day

Bill, Jenny, and twins Anna and Ethan made the trek to Milford to sweat visit with us on Memorial Day. There was some serious parading to do.

BF Jack was there too. Channeling some "Fear and Loathing..."

This part had Mom a little choked up. Reminded her of EAA. And her Dad. And all the sacrifices made to secure our freedom.

We headed home early. Too loud. Too hot. Lots of tears. But back at the hacienda all was well. Dad's BBQ ribs and Mom's blue cheese potato salad cures all. (The corn on the cob and macaroni and cheese didn't hurt either.)

The fabulous afternoon culminated in an attempted child photo shoot.

Eventually, OVER IT! What little troopers we had on our hands...

It was a fittingly memorable Memorial Day.

Splash and Blast

Yesterday we beat the heat and checked out Kensington Metro Park's Splash and Blast.

Dancing in the rain.

Makin' friends.

 Knees took a hit though.

After-splash smiles all around.

Pre-Weekend BBQ

What great neighbors we have!
(And lots of little men for Maizey's pickin'.)

Maizey and the hostess with the mostest...

Hostess's hot little one - and Maizey's BF... Jack.

M and M - Maizey and Mason.

 Meghan and Mason.

Meghan and Sawyer.

Lovin' life. And Dad.

More with Grams

What else did we do?

 Well, for starters...
 Read books...

... and practiced pointing.

 And getting cuddled while pointing.

And swinging in capris.

 And getting cuddled again.

More to come!

I'm baaaaaack

Where have we been? Why, having fun with Grandma Betty, of course. Mom asked her to help surprise Dad for their six year anniversary (May 17). Gram complied and showed up Thursday afternoon with heaps of lovely plants for Mom! (Straight from Tony's Green Thumb in Bark River, MI. Gram's summer bucket list job.)
That's me and Gram whooping it up in the background.

I was so happy to see her I gave her a Mother's Day card.
And helped her read it.

Mom and Dad went downtown Friday night - their first overnight away from moi.
Silly parents.

They went to Eastern Market on Saturday morning.
And brought home flowers galore.

Which of course, I helped them plant.

Loved it. A tactile adventure.

A favorite? Seed packets.

Like rattles - only tastier.

I'm a Golden Garden Gal.

Stay tuned for many more Grandma Betty visit pics...

Basement refurb. Stage one - Complete

Remember the grotty Michigan basement floor we used to sport? No longer. Maizey is free to roam.

Save for the rusty bolts coming out of the floor. (A stage two situation - in progress.)

Mama Day

I had a fabulous first Mother's Day.

Started with a sleep in and upon wake-up was met by a card-carrying baby.

Followed it up with brunch at The Bar.

A family nap and then dinner at The Spurgeons... celebrate birthdays and mamas and grandmas.
