Two weeks on earth

Mom keeps saying she can't get over how exhausting and time-consuming it is to take care of me. And how she doesn't have a spare minute to update the blog. I couldn't agree less. I'm one easy-going baby! I mean all I do is eat every 2.5 hours, sleep on occasion and make noisy messes in my fancy cloth diapers. Oh, and howl every time mom tries to trim my nails. But really, how difficult is that?! Mom also says that she's going to get better at updating the blog, so I'm passing on the word.

Anyhow, my second week on earth was a busy one.

The weekend of August 6-7, I had some visitors. First-cousins-once-removed Tammy, Nikki and Jody visited along with Great Aunt Jane.

Then, Great Auntie Robin came by with Great Uncle Waddy. It was Robin's 65th birthday!

On Monday, we traveled to Bloomfield Hills to bid farewell to Secretary Numero Uno - Ms. Brenna Lane - future Detroit Anthropologist Extraordinaire.

On our way home, mom was feeling brave and took me on my first trip to the grocery store - I was only 11 days young! We took Kroger by storm. Toward the end, I heard some other babies crying and started fussing myself. Good thing the store manager/seasoned grandma was nearby to offer some expert cart rocking lessons.

Monday was also the day Dad visited my future Tuesday/ Thursday hangout - Childtime on Middlebelt. He brought home some paperwork and my welcome sign. Mom cried.

Tuesday was a great day! Grandma Betty showed up with my other brother Owen and kicked off 6 days of pampering for me, Mom and Dad.

On Wednesday we went to 5th and Fringe in Royal Oak so I could see Auntie Colleen and Mom could get her hairs cut. (She was supposed to get a hairdo the day I decided to arrive - of course she cancelled that appointment.) While she got her scalp massaged, Grandma Betty and Colleen strolled me down Main. All the ladies at Haberman loved me.

Thanks to Auntie Colleen, I was the most stylin' baby in Metro Detroit that day!

Thursday was another great day. And my two week birthday. More pampering by Grandma Betty, and Auntie Karyn sent us dinner from Chicago. A deep dish pizza and a cheesecake! Lucky Mom and Dad I have! We also went to the doctor - I was up 8 ounces! And, did some shopping at Carters and Target. Phew!

Thursday night was set-up night for Milford Memories. Mom and Dad have a tradition of going down to the "hot corner" to watch the train wreck that is an art show opening. Mom was worried I would join the train wreck but instead it was Dad - who spilled his Long Island all over Grandma. On the way home they stopped to introduce me to the neighbors. Mom was very animated when she talked about being a new parent.

It was a good week. I had some ups with Mom and some downs with Dad but after some good knee time, I was deemed a gold star baby by Grandma.
