37 'n' change

How do I feel? Enlarged.

As I should. This morning, at a one-last-check ultrasound, the tech confidently estimated Baby Spurgeon to be 7.5 pounds. Now, that can vary half a pound either way, but still, at 37.5 weeks, we're already looking forward to meeting a slightly heftier babe than #1.

With Maizey, I gained 30 pounds. At the last appointment, I was in the 34 pound range.

But, in the last few days I have had a burst of unexpected energy, even convincing Will to let me mow the lawn Sunday.

It's the homestretch and we are ready. Finally.

Ready, set, NEST

So, folks, today's 37 week appointment has officially thrown me into a baby-nesting-frenzy.

Well, not just the appointment, but the midwife's words - "I would not be at all surprised to see you at the ABC this weekend."

WTF?

I have 3+ more weeks, people!

We have nothing ready. (I know we don't really need much, but until this morning's post-appointment rush to Target, I didn't even have any newborn diapers. And the infant car seat is only out of the attic because Little Ryan needed a place to sleep during our Labor Day dinner.)

The reason for her words? A very low-lying baby and steady Braxton Hicks contractions.

Baby S. is still measuring two weeks small - so this was even more of a shock. But, it has been the general medical consensus that Will and I just make petite children. Nothing worrisome or indicative of a miscalculated due-date.

Cross your fingers Baby S2 decides to defy my midwife's prediction. Bob and Betty need time to cook. Will needs time to get the cradle out of our basement, and to pick up the dresser/changing table. And I need two days for Amazon Prime to deliver my newborn onesies and nursing pads.

Follows 36, Precedes 38

37 weeks, 5 days and holding at 44". Feeling very enlarged these days. The pool has replaced the elliptical (which replaced the treadmill) - but no breaststroke kicks for me. Flutter only. And lots of inside time with my ice cream.
