Thankful

gobble gobble

Please excuse my abrupt departure from the blogosphere. I opted for the opposite of an Irish goodbye. Which, as you know, is kind of my M.O.

The reason?

There was simply nothing to blog about. Nothing to write about. No photos to post. My/our life/lives have been boring, boring, boring.

Yep. Humdrum. Lame.

But, I miss blogging. And more than that, I miss having a record of my crazy, good, sometimes sob-inducing life. It seems the long crazy days will truly do culminate in short crazy years, and my addled mom/wife/daughter/friend/sister/entrepreneur/person brain isn't up for memorializing or logging the every day, which really, is the important shit. Right? So, as we head into Thanksgiving week, I am stopping to profess my thankfulness. For my health. For my children. For my best friend. For my family. For my busy life.

In the coming months I hope to revive Enlarging Marge, at least a little, so that I can remember exactly what I spent these crazy days doing, and how good they really were.

All the fixins

Finally, a week after the feast, I've discovered time to add some pics to our online diary.

So of course, I loaded up my Canon for our Thanksgiving gathering at Grandma Katie and Grandpa Bills, only to snap about five photos, then drink too much beer and forget I needed to "capture moments." Luckily, Uncle Paul was there to snap some shots - though unfortunately even my editing skills can't repair the disco eyes or step up the resolution of his camera...

It was a grand gathering, and may have marked the last big turkey dinner at the Woodsboro home. Bill and Katie believe they will be permanent Lake City residents this time next year - quite a change. But, fun to think of creating new memories in the updated cottage.

Speaking of updates... part of the reason I've been short on time is our looming home renovation. Finally. Come Monday the rough carpenters move in and we move out. Talk about amping up the stress during an already stressful season! Happily, we'll have a home in Ann Arbor to call our own. Temporarily.

Stay tuned!

Rewind and remember

Pause. Rewind. Remember Thanksgiving?
Yes, it was a few weeks ago, but these speak-for-themselves shots taken during our turkey day beach walk are just too heart-warming not to share...

Even if they are a tad tardy.
(P.S. Grandpa Bob was cooking. Nanna Kip was on the watch.)

(And yes, I wanted to caption nearly all of them. But then stopped. Captions not-included. Or necessary, I think.)

Papa! (by Maizey)

Not Dada. Papa. Grandpa.

We had a swell time last week.

He taught me the finer points of wood hauling...
(Namely, don't drop it on your toes.)

And shoveling...
(Not so keen on the white stuff. Or maybe my expression is due to the fact I am sans coat.)

Ipad-ing...

(Elmo, elmo, elmo, elmo...)

Boot-wearing...

(Or not wearing.)

And even backwards dressing/Trenary Toast eating...
(When it was his turn to put my pants on.)

Silly Papa. I love you.

You are what you eat...

Gobble gobble.

Escanaba was fab. Thanksgiving was delish. Here's how the day went (according to Maizey.)

I slapped the bird.

 Orchestrated Papa's cooking.

Watched dad wake up,
And then keep Mom company in the kitchen.
(Eyes O-P-E-N please, Dada.)

Mama was in charge of the stuffing (and chose to add sausage).

And the gobbler (but Papa took care of the brining).

Pete and Gram were on second shift.

While I slept (see monitor - to the right of Mr. American Indian).

When I awoke, the table was set and we got down to business.
(After a beach walk - pics to come.)

"What, no wine in my sippy? Sham."

But, I really enjoyed dinner. Though I ate most of the meal in the kitchen while I helped Grandpa (Papa) carve the bird. Favorites? Stuffing and white meat poultry.

In two years we'll work on the family photo.

So much to be thankful for!

Happy Thanksgiving

Today we'll eat delicious food. Enjoy family. And give thanks. Life is good.
