Dad got a new toy on Friday. He says it's for me but I'm no fool. We took it for a test run on Sunday. It was brrrrr cold so Mom made me wear my arctic gear. Soooo embarrassing.

A pretty big deal - my first ride facing forward.

And off we go.

My take? It'll be fab for summer Sunday runs at Kensington with Dad, Kip, Grandpa and Gemma. Mom and Dad hope to street test it at the Corktown run. Which this year, will more likely be a walk. Stay tuned!

Aunt Jane's retired!

Last night I attended my first retirement party. The Spurgeon crew gathered at Peabody's in Birmingham to celebrate Great Aunt Jane. I didn't get a shot with the lady of honor, but Mom did grab a shot with Aunt Colleen...

Someday, I'll tell you about the adventure Dad and I had in the bathroom. When he's recovered. (A hint: silly Mom expected Peabody's to have a changing station in the men's room. Silly, silly mom...)

Enjoying the small things

My friend Maria, now a successful blogger herself, recommended a wonderful mom blog, Enjoying the Small Things by Kelle Hampton, before Maizey was born. But she warned me not to start reading it until after M was born. Then, she said, "Get a box of tissues and start here."


Kelle is a wonderful writer, an amazing photographer and an inspiring mom. She has a new book coming out in April which I'm eager to read. As Maria said in a recent blog post, "watch the trailer and get inspired immediately..."

Valentines Day. Love it.

Grandma and Grandpa UP sent me a package.

Which I opened like the big girl I am.

It included my first Carhartt (coveralls).

Aunt Bonnie and Uncle Greg even sent me a Valentine all the way from Fort Collins!

Though I needed Mom and Dad's help to figure out the Valentine wasn't for eating.
