West-coast bound

Today Will, Baby S. and I take off for the West Coast. Seattle, to be exact, to visit great friends Mary and James.

Mobile obsession

Growing up, Uncle Pete and I shared a room. We always had fashionable Marimekko sheets and super rad mobiles. Of the latter, my favorite was a black fish one Peter got when we were granted separate rooms. Though I had the lakeview, the mobile brought on some serious sibling jealousy.

So of course, I want a super rad mobile for Baby S's room. Searching online I found this craft project. Not sure I'm ready to tackle something so sew-orientated only weeks after stepping back from the collar business, but it is SEW tempting. Etsy searches have uncovered some like-products, but not quite the "special" mobile I was hoping for.


Can I create a craft registry? And specify the fabrics I want the birds to be? Anyone?

Baby Spurgeon's first symphony

On Saturday, after a delicious, enlarging dinner at Rattlesnake, Baby Spurgeon went to her first Detroit symphony: Disney in Concert. The performance opened with the musicians providing accompaniment to classic Disney movies, while clips played on a large screen above the stage. Then, four professional singers joined the DSO for vocal renditions of childhood favorites, including sing-a-longs to Mary Poppins and It's a Small World. I can say with confidence that after a six-month strike, the DSO is back and better than ever.



Before the show we were busy bees. At 25 weeks, 2 days, I played my first round of the season (and my first round pregnant). Not terrible.








And we did some in-person registering at Buy Buy Baby. The lady made a big deal about letting dad "operate the gun." Ummm, okay. (Almost done - just need to pick out a swing. Why-o-why are they all so U-G-L-Y?!)

Quarter-Century

Lately I've been described as having "popped." Lucky me. Colors pop, weasels pop, tires pop and now I, Enlarging Marge, pops too.

I am one of the luckiest ladies in Milford. On Friday, Will and I had a dinner date with our fabulous friend Pattie. She wanted to take us out on the town to celebrate the pregnancy so we chose a date and arranged for her to pick us up. This is what she showed up in.




To the delight of our neighbors, Big Duke galloped up our driveway at 6:45 p.m., transporting Pattie and a beautiful bouquet of flowers.









After a 505 photoshoot, Russel (driver) and Chewie (co-pilot) took us on a leisurely, historical tour of Milford. It was especially notable, since it was the day of the Milford baseball parade (we pulled onto Main Street at the tail end and still had a bit of an audience) and the day of the Royal Wedding.






Dinner at downtown Italian eatery, Coratti's, and then honorary aunt Pattie arranged for Russel to drive us home. Clopping up our gravel drive at 10 p.m. was quite the experience.

It was an amazing evening.
What great friends I have . . .

Crib update

My lesson of the day? If you blog about a problem, it solves itself.

Immediately after composing the post about my crib dilemma, a message popped into my gmail account from Million Dollar Baby employee Jenny.

Sure enough, the Park Lane was available for ordering (shame on Walmart for not sending me the "alert" I requested) and as I type, is on its way to the New Hudson location for pick-up.

Phew!

But now I kind of wish it was the Olivia... What's a girl to do?
